@SARINADEACON

gryffindor colors!

If only they had black and green..

I decided to conserve my money this year.

So instead of knitting everyone in class an individual sweater, I'm going to put everyone in pairs and knit each PAIR a sweater! It's because I care. :)

BANKSY

I'm guessing that no one that will be reading this is particularly interested in graffiti art, so I'll give a brief rundown:
Banksy is an alias of a guy who does alot of stencils and graffiti, and alot of it is politically themed. Basically he's just really cool and his film (documentary? I thought it was, at least, until it wasn't under the doc section at best buy) just came out two days ago. I bouuught it for someone for Christmas. Super pumped to watch it. Trailer:

THIS WEEK

One thing that made me happy this week was almost finishing my Christmas shopping! One thing that made me unhappy was overdrafting my account, which sucks because I HAVE the money, but I transfer it monthly to my savings account so I can't get it out. Hopefully I don't get charged though because I get paid today and my charges were only pending last time I checked :)
One thing I learned this week was how to make inappropriate baked goods, via Ann Marie. One thing I want to learn is how to use cameras in motion, cause it's so useful but confusing.

Thank you Wisconsin

I am SLACKIN on my blog this week.

But, this is Bon Iver.

I really have no particular reason for posting it except that I like the band/song. I think the video is interesting too though. I like (what I believe to be) the color correction.

I love the way they did the music with the video.
And I just think graffiti is really cool.

I hate when

people hate on other people's musical talent/are incredibly judgemental and opinionated on music.

I like the guy at like, 5:45, ahahah

11/23/10

I'm in homeschool right now.

And I have nothing to do, but I'm in the library so I figured I'd post a blog! (For some reason, every website is blocked on these computers except blogger.) I learned motion today. I <3 motion. There's sooooooooooooo much stuff that you can potentially do with it that I think I would never even know where to begin. One thing I didn't like about this week was that my car is officially going to be smushed and stripped of any good part it has. One thing I did like about this week was the assurance that I wouldn't get a crappy car, just less good than the one I had. And one thing I want to learn is just how to use motion more, really. I wish I knew it super well but unfortunately I don't think I ever will, haha.
Happy thanksgivingggg!

11/21/10

Watch this one instead.

The last one's view count froze at 304 and I'm undecided if it's because Hannah and I ourselves watched the video too much or because it was watched too many times not the full way through. So from now on I'm going to dedicate hours to refreshing that page and watching it for the full 3 minutes.

11/19/10

...sigh

This week. Oooooh, this week.
One thing I learned was motion. One thing I want to learn.. is motion. Seeing as apparently I'll be teaching it to tenth graders and I have never even touched the program, ahah. Nothing made me happy this week, because this week sucked existentially. One thing that made me frustrated this week was this entire week.
I miss my car. It was my best friend.

11/16/10

If this is true, it's very interesting.

It's a list of books that Sarah Palin tried to ban in Alaska. If this is true, I'm not sure how she ever even got to where she was. Harry Potter? James and the Giant Peach? Of Mice and Men? To Kill a Mockingbird? Really? A Clockwork Orange is slightly more understandable, but not much. Ih8u sarah palin. list

WATCH THIS

A MILLLLLLION TIMES.
If we get enough views to make it into the top 5 by December 1st, the videos will then be judged on creativity and video quality <3 the majority of the other videos are made in WMM and look very un-cool and un-creative. SO MY BEST FRIEND HANNAH AND I TOTALLY HAVE A SHOT. Just watch and watch and watch and I'll owe you my life. Just like I owe ML and ZP my life for saving me today.

Mad Scientist FTW ;)

wipe transition

I think this might be the only video I've ever seen where the wipe transition doesn't look horrible. Super cool editing.

the shots and angles and editing and everything. the contents of this video. the music. it's incredible

the credits are really cool too.

guilty

Yesterday was 11/11!

SO, one thing that I learned this week was how to make it look like someone is having thought clouds in a video :) Sarah witnessed it. It's rough, but I'm going to make it work out some day. One thing I want to learn is how to make text look cooler in FCP. I haven't really messed around with it enough yet. There was no school for Veterans day, so for community service, I served veterans breakfast. There was one guy named Stanley Maziarz who was 89 I believe (and still in awesome shape), who pulled out pictures from the 40s of himself and the war, and kept talking about specific stories from when he was in Normandie on D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge and how his whole team died except him and his friend. Not to mention, he was a TOTAL babe when he was a young lad. I took a picture on my phone of his picture of himself. I'll post it sometime after I get picture messaging (which should be next week-ish). One thing that frustrated me about this week was that Sarah keeps calling me Jenni, because she doesn't know the difference between us. I don't want to be known as Jenni, because we all know what Mama Licata thinks of her after today.

Cart (thanks to zp for showing me this!)

Besides the general awesomeness of this, it's really cute too. I got a bit emotional..

ZIS WEEK

I learned that the lavalier mics don't fit on the hf s21 cameras, causing me to use a slightly more ghetto method of strapping it to the tripod via that white band thing that comes in the case. But alas, worry not, Madame Licata has ordered converter things to make it capable. One thing I didn't like about this week.. was nothing really. I liked this week. Something I DID like about this week. Well, the first marking period is over. 3/4 of the year till graduation. My parents brought me a veggie burrito from mighty yesterday. It's been a good week, basically. What I want to learn.. hm. I guess learning greenscreen stuff would be cool. I can then make invisibility cloaks, as Sarina pointed out... >:]

PUMPKIN

this is a pumpkin!!

This lovely week of October

I learned how to use the cameras! Yessss. I also got a little more savvy at FCP. Something that I didn't like about this week was the fact that my seaworld thing kept being all glitchy. But in the end it worked out. What I liked about this week: JOSIAH LEMING OMG. Sarah knows. I saw him yesterday. Almost cried joy tears. I can't even begin to explain what a talented musician he is. His voice, for one thing, is extroardinary. And then his crazy skills on keys. He's just really different from most musicians I know now. But anyways! Yes, I went to see him yesterday at Mohawk Place. My life is 1/2 complete. I wish I was that good of a musician :(

What I want to learn, in reaction to this Josiah spiel, is how to become a better song writer. I can't stand hearing the same song over and over by the same pop acoustic artist about love and lust and all that [BEEP].

It'll happen someday.

10/27/10

Marina and the Diamonds

She's so awesome. I wish I could be weird and pretty and have a deep voice all at once, but I think that combination of traits is reserved for her.

Best line: Hollywood infected your brain, you wanted kissing in the rain. Living in a movie scene, puking American dreams.

This is so awkward looking

10/22/10

mmm

This week sucked. So did last week.
So basically I learned FCP this week. I'm super excited to do stuff on it. Stuff that's not sea world. I want to learn motion! And how to dougie, but Jenni taught me the jist of that today. I also wanna learn how to successfully be a vegetarian. Not just stop eating meat and eat salad all the time and then quit being a vegetarian, cause if I make an attempt I'd rather continue with it. (But I can't do that for another few months anyways.) I loved The Cove. Supersize Me was cool too, but not quite as cool. What I didnt like about this week was the sub. Filters=not a prime day at boces. AND sea world. Frickin hate sea world.

10/21/10

GUYS. THIS IS MY MOMS DESKTOP

I didn't realize until just now that she had a picture with a ONCE FREE DOLPHIN WHOSE FAMILY WAS SLAUGHTERED IN TAIJI as her background.

TO MS LICATA

I have a new topic I wanna do for my documentary!

It's that time again.

Thisss week: I learned how to use Audacity and Garageband (as did all of you, ha). It's cool making a story with only sound, but sometimes the story gets a little blurred without a visual. I want to learn what specific things mean within Audacity/Garageband (Filters and stuff), AND how to make the sandwich that I posted earlier. Something that frustrated me was the lack of sounds I could find to imply people talking. There was not any sort of grunting that could serve as talking anywhere that I could find, so I just settled with distorting actual talking until it sounds ridiculous and unrealistic. What made me happy this week was the lack of school stuff. No school Monday, not going to (home)school Friday, and minimal stuff to do for the three days in between. I <3 senior year.

I also watched V for Vendetta yesterday. It was homework-ish for my government class, and it was really good :)

Anyone have a deep fryer?

..corn flake crusted fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. oh lord

This is just something cool I read somewhere.

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

The questions raised:

*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

*Do we stop to appreciate it?

*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made…

How many other things are we missing?

NEED THESE

I'm not particularly sure why I find this so funny. Every. Time. "Noooo"

THIS WEEKS NEWS:

SO, this week I learned that NCCC is sort of awesome compared to what it's reputation is (or at least the reputation I've heard). I really didn't want to do a two-years-at-NCCC thing, but figured I really should because it's such a money saver, but now that I've actually toured there/seen the programs I'd be in, I definitely want to take the classes in January. Not that I'm definitely GOING to, I just definitely WANT to. I want to learn video, like...now, haha. I'm so excited about this documentary thing, but I can't think of anything significant enough to do it on quite yet. I liked the LCTV field trip today. It's definitely cool to know that you can volunteer there for resumes and experience and stuff. There's not much I didn't like about this week, just homeschool! :)

Also, my mom just walked in and told me what SHE learned today: when a pot-belly pig likes you, it pees.

10/6/10

In response to Sarah's smartboard post:

Smartboards freak me out! It makes me feel like things are getting too futuristic when people ditch chalk boards and now have giant computer screens in school and stuff. Not like any of the (NT) teachers know how to use any kind of technology anyways. But it frequently reminds me of: this.

..everything is chrome..

weekly comments

This week hasn't been significant at all. Just another week, I guess. I'm really excited that I learned about merging visible layers into a brand new layer (option, merge visible). That saves me a whoooole lot of new copies/flattening. I would like to learn the basics of audacity/garage band, because I'm starting my script but I'm not so sure how to go about the program. With time. In the end I liked my worth1000 project and the way it turned out, but I sort of wish I would have chosen something different. Two things I didn't like about this week were: 1) That horrible, obnoxious sex ed guy 2) The unfairness of my place of employment/how informal they are. They forced my friend Melissa to resign. NOT COOL.

Just a cool video :)

Mashup

I sincerely enjoy this. Coldplay, The Scientist vs Drake, Forever. Lil Wayne's in there too, but who cares about him when my main squeeze is in there. Eminem 4evr, yo. link to this superb song I speak of

I don't really know much about audio and mixing and all that jazz, but I give much credit to people who can make two songs sound flawless, like they were made to be one.

Merging.

Merging is to flattening as masks are to selections. Merging tips: http://www.bairarteditions.com/pages/tutorials/photoshop/laymerge.html. so useful.

Banned book week

This week (9/25-10/1) is banned book week, celebrating the freedom to read. So just an interesting piece of information: Fahrenheit 451 was banned. A book about book censorship.. was banned.
Thank you, America, for being so down to earth about everything.

SCINTILLATION

This. Is so. Cool. Scintillation

this week!

Currently, everyone is at BOCES except NT kids. :) I sort of wish I went just so I can finish my color stuff on time, even though it's due Monday. But I also like sleeping a whole lot.. This week, I learned what split complements were, because I was unawares they even existed. I'm really excited to learn video, though. Having access to awesome cameras (Canon Vixias?) and Final Cut Pro.. I really want to learn that. Especially for video scholarships. The only thing I've really gotten mad about (if I can even call it that at all?) is how horrible NT's guidance counselors are. She has not helped me one bit in high school for anything. In fact, as I just told him recently, Zach Pape has acted more like my guidance counselor than she has. She called me down to give me a form that was due last week, that I already got without her because I know she's not dependable. And what made me happy this week.. well, I guess I have a new cousin as of yesterday, which is kind of a shocker to me because I only just found out my uncle's wife was pregnant. Named Logan. And tonight is the Light The Night walk! I started a team and fundraised money via selling those paper things you write your name on at Budwey's. :)

Criminal Minds

unnnfffff..
Season 6 started today. My main priority for the day was obviously to watch it. Because I think I have perhaps the largest crush-love on Dr. Spencer Reid. I can't even emphasize it.

Kingdom Hearts III!

A few weeks ago, my dear friend and fellow KH fiend, Audrey, informed me that there was to be a Kingdom Hearts III released on September 7th! I never did proper research on the matter, and upon mentioning this to a certain Mike Chille whence running into him at the mall, he informed me it was untrue. YET there will certainly be one eventually. Another friend, Donnie Charles Wullner III, has also informed me that there were some guestimations that KHIII will be cross-platform, since Final Fantasy XI is Square-Enix as well, and is in fact cross-platform. Finally having the initiative to do some research on the matter after noting a post about it, I have found this website: http://www.kingdomhearts3.net/rumours/

(untitled)

This week has been super stressful, but it went by really fast. Most of what we learned in photoshop I kind of already knew, but I did learn how to add color to black and white photos, so that's sort of cool. I'm frustrated because right now I'm being rushed to leave, but I really need to finish this blog post since I'll be gone all weekend. I'm pretty happy about not working though.. And because I'm VERY restrained on time right now, that's all I can write. So farewell, blog.

Josiah Leming

Despite the awesomeness of this song, I really love the editing/composition of this video. It flows so well.

I AM A ZOMBIE

I have officially stopped my work binge. I've been running on redbull and coffee and going straight from school to work every day since school has started, which means I don't see my house from 7:30 am until 9:00 pm. I practically live in my car. And tomorrow is my very first day not working! I requested off for Friday through Sunday, because I guess I'll be in Allegheny, camping with my friend Mark and his family. And then back to my schedule of induced energy, work, school, and minimal sleep. I guess I shouldn't complain about work though, because I really need the money or else I'll never pay off the 3k+ I need by February. :(
See, one year ago around this time, I was offered the opportunity to go to Europe and gladly accepted. Little did I know then how much money this trip would be costing, and that I don't have the "back out" option. Everything sounds good when you're naive, ha.
